Tracking · TECHNIQUE
Reactive
Unpredictable direction and speed changes test honest visual reaction, braking, reversal and rapid reacquisition.
What it is
Reactive tracking is continuous target reading under abrupt strafes. The main challenge is responding to real visual information without pre-emptively shaking away from the target.
Core technique
Assume the current motion continues until the change is visible. After a reversal, brake the old mouse motion, accelerate into the new direction, reacquire and then match velocity again.
Execution
Accept a short human reaction delay. Make the first reversal decisive but controlled; forcing an instant correction often produces an overshoot and a longer second recovery.
What to focus on
Watch the target, not the crosshair. Separate reading errors from motor errors: prediction leaves before the target turns; poor braking continues after the turn is confirmed.
Common mistakes
- Predicting a reversal and leaving the target early.
- Reversing at full force before braking the old motion.
- Continuing the recovery correction after contact is restored.
MECHANICS IN MOTION
Demonstration
Each two-second pause isolates one essential decision. After the guided sequence, the full task continues without interruption.
