Tracking · TECHNIQUE
Precise
A small target follows readable motion, demanding smooth velocity matching and economical microcorrections.
What it is
Precise tracking exposes small positional errors. The target is readable, but its size and path punish jitter, excess tension and corrections that are larger than the error.
Core technique
Match the target's velocity rather than trying to move slowly. Keep pressure light, let larger joints carry long arcs and reserve wrist or fingers for small residual corrections.
Execution
Acquire without snapping past the target, settle near its center, then correct in small pulses only when the visual error is clear. Return to velocity matching after every correction.
What to focus on
Judge success by sustained centered contact and low correction cost, not by making the cursor look artificially motionless.
Common mistakes
- Overcorrecting every visible pixel of error.
- Adding grip tension when the target becomes small.
- Moving at a constant personal pace instead of matching target velocity.
